Can I be honest with you? The past 24 hours have been somewhat frustrating for me. I’ve been nervous and anxious. Our world, nations and local communities seem to have been in turmoil over the past few months. Our governments have had to make choices that will affect us all especially in terms of our health and finances, and yet I’ve been wondering anxiously what if their plans and projections aren’t even right, what if the decisions they have made have been the wrong ones, that they don’t have our best interests at heart, and even worse….what if the conspiracy theories are true! What if?!
Then this morning in His still small voice, God spoke His truth and peace into my life. He reminded me that He is in control and that I have been told to trust Him! Trust Him in uncertainty, trust Him when things are out of our control, trust Him when things seems to be completely unknown, trust Him because He is in control of the nations, that He sees and knows all things.
Anxiety and fear are real but they aren’t greater than our God. In Romans 13:1, Paul when speaking to the church in Rome said “Everyone must submit to governing authorities. For all authority comes from God, and those in positions of authority have been placed there by God.”
We are called to trust Him knowing that He is in control of all things including our governments. In his letter to Timothy, Paul also urges us to pray for our leaders, “I urge you, first of all, to pray for all people. Ask God to help them, intercede on their behalf, and give thanks for them. Pray this way for kings and all who are in authority so that we can live peaceful and quiet lives marked by godliness and dignity” (1 Timothy 2: 1-2).
Can we believe together that He can work in the hearts and minds of those who govern us throughout the land of Ireland, that He will bless this land and all who live on it?
Will you pray with me for those who lead?
Father, I’m thankful that You are in control of all things. Father, I pray that You would continue to speak into the hearts and minds of all who govern us and make decisions on our behalf throughout Ireland. Father, I ask that You would give them wisdom and discernment, open their eyes to see the things that You want them to see and I pray that You would help them to run from things that are evil and corrupt. Father, I pray that You would bless Ireland, bless its economy, people and land that it would flourish and be blessed and that it would be a testimony to nations throughout the world of Your goodness. In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen
