In Romans 14:10-12 we read that we as believers will have to give an account for our lives:
“Why do you pass judgment on your brother? Or you, why do you despise your brother? For we will all stand before the judgment seat of God; for it is written,
“As I live, says the Lord, every knee shall bow to me,
and every tongue shall confess] to God.”
So then each of us will give an account of himself to God.”
Imagine taking a walk along a riverbank…you pick up a stick and throw it into the river. Now watch it as it is being swept with the flow of the river. The stick doesn’t determine where it will go, it goes where the water takes it.
When the times comes for each of us to give our account we could list what we have done and how our plans fell into place or we could live like the stick floating along the river totally surrendered to where God wants to lead us. I don’t know about you but I want to get to the end of my life and not be able to fully explain how things happened, knowing that it was beyond my plans and dreams, beyond my abilities and beyond what I ever could have imagined. That it was all for His glory!
Imagine what this land would be like if believers were fully surrendered to the Holy Spirit’s power and leading. If we would set down our own agendas and plans and let God lead us into the unknown to fulfil His purposes for our lives, our communities and Ireland. Our lives wouldn’t be our own but would be His, for His glory.
Are you willing to fully surrender to be used by Him? To be who He wants you to be? To see what He wants you to see? To hear what He wants you to hear? To go where He wants you to go? To do what He wants you to do?
Father, we thank You that You love us, have saved us and have prepared a place for us. Father as I live my life I choose to surrender all my plans in exchange for Your plans and my desires for Your desires. Father use me as You want to use me, for Your glory and honour. In Your name, I pray, Amen.
