I woke up one morning this week feeling a bit overwhelmed with the noise and clamour regarding the issues our world is facing today. Even if we don’t watch or listen to the news or media, the noise still surrounds us. It’s almost inescapable. There is always a latest update or regulation to be followed regarding health restrictions, meeting limitations, transportation, etc. From every direction, it seems the kingdoms of this world are screaming at us. It can become exhausting, especially as we seek the Lord’s heart behind it all and His wisdom to see into (or through) these things as He does. There is just so much. And for me, as a resident of the U.K., but a citizen of the U.S., I feel I’m juggling prayers for two countries, two government systems, multiple leaders/parties, and multiple messes! I find myself praying in the Spirit more than ever, these days.
On this particular morning, as I was thinking about all these things, the Spirit dropped this passage into my spirit:
“Unto us a child is born…and the government will be on His shoulders…Of the greatness of His government and peace there will be no end. He will reign on David’s throne and over his kingdom, establishing and upholding it with justice and righteousness.” Isaiah 9:6-7
Instantly, peace flooded my mind, body and spirit. I wasn’t looking for solutions as I prayed- yet the Spirit gave me His perspective on what seems to be a mad time in the world- perfectly packaged in these two verses. When we grasp His perspective on anything at all, we experience supernatural peace that passes all understanding.
These truths, His truths, trump all. His government is subject to no one. Full governance and all authority rest on His shoulders. Of the greatness of this government and the greatness of HIS PEACE, there will be no end…ever. No matter what it looks like today, His government and peace are ever-increasing.
Continually. Give us eyes to see the increase of Your peace and reign, Lord!
Even further, in Revelation 11:15 we are told,
“The kingdom of the world has become the kingdom of our Lord and of His Messiah, and He shall reign forever and ever.”
Although the fulfilment of this scripture is yet to come, it points us to the truth of what will be one day firmly established and what is presently being fulfilled.
I encourage us all today, as we pray for our respective governments and leaders, that along with asking for wisdom for them and godly direction, we declare over them and the whole earth the government of our Christ and His Kingdom. Let us usher in his governance, peace and Kingdom, in Jesus’ name!
Father, we thank You and declare that all governments will rest upon Christ’s shoulders! We thank You and declare that of the increase of Your government and peace there will be no end! We thank You and declare that You do reign over Your kingdom and You will establish it and uphold it! And we thank You and declare that the kingdoms of this world are becoming the kingdoms of our Lord and Christ, right now! In Jesus’ name.
