I will stand at my watch and station myself on the ramparts; I will look to see what he will say to me… Habakkuk 2:1 (NIV)
People sometimes share a picture and ask you, “What do you see?” Some people see a vase in the picture; others immediately see the face of a person. Usually, if you stare at it long enough you can see both. The song What a Wonderful World starts with the words, “I see trees of green, red roses too. I see them bloom for me and you. And I think to myself, what a wonderful world.” In the Bible, God asks people “What do you see?” One such person was Jeremiah.
The word of the LORD came to me: “What do you see, Jeremiah?” “I see the branch of an almond tree,” I replied. … And the word of the LORDS came to me the second time, saying, “What do you see?” And I said, “I see a boiling pot, facing away from the north.” Jeremiah 1:11,13 (NIV)
Amos was asked the same question
And the LORD said to me, “Amos, what do you see?” And I said, A plumb line.” … And he said, “What do you see, Amos?” And I said, “A basket of summer fruit.” Amos 7:8; 7:2 (ESV)
Zechariah 4:2 records another example:
And said to me, “What do you see?” I said, “I see, and behold, a lampstand all of gold with its bowl on the top of it, and its seven lamps on it with seven spouts belonging to each of the lamps which are on the top of it.” Zechariah 4:2 (ESV)
What do you see in the Spirit? What is God showing you? I see a generation arising who seek God as their vital necessity and know their God and are ready for great exploits in His name. I see people adopting the posture of prayer. I see mindsets being transformed by the Word of God. I see the people of God awakening to the fresh revelation of who they really are in Christ, who Christ is in them and the authority that they possess in His Name. I see dry bones coming together, God breathing life into them and an exceedingly great army rising up, getting into alignment for their assignment. I see yokes being destroyed because of the anointing, burdens being lifted off people’s shoulders, chains being broken, captives being set free. I see doors of opportunity opening in unprecedented ways for the gospel, doors which no-one can shut. I see God making a way in the wilderness and rivers in the desert. I see wells being unblocked and unstopped. I see revival, a fresh wind and wave of God’s glory that is about to sweep the nations, ushering in an uncountable harvest of souls.
Take time to allow God to show you His heart, to see life from His perspective. As you look into His Word, ask Him to open your eyes to behold His wondrous truths.
I will stand at my watch and station myself on the ramparts; I will look to see what he will say to me… Habakkuk 2:1 (NIV)
May the eyes of our hearts be enlightened, as Paul prayed:
I pray that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened in order that you may know the hope to which he has called you, the riches of his glorious inheritance in his holy people, and his incomparably great power for us who believe. Ephesians 1:18-19 (NIV)
