For in Him you have been enriched in every way. 1 Corinthians 1:5 (NIV)
An anagram is a word or phrase made by transposing or rearranging the letters of another word or phrase. For example:
- Dormitory = Dirty room
- Eleven plus two = Twelve pus one
- Listen = Silent
- Clint Eastwood = Old West action
- Madam Curie = Radium came
- The countryside = No city dust here
- Astronomers = Moon starers
- The eyes = They see
- The Morse code = Here comes dots
- A decimal point = I’m a dot in place
Here’s an interesting one: Christian = rich saint. A Christian is enriched with every spiritual blessing in Christ and declared to be complete in Christ. Paul refers to these blessings as “the unfathomable riches of Christ”. “Unfathomable” is the Greek anexichniastos which conveys the idea that the believer’s blessings in Christ are ‘too deep to be measured’. We often think of enrichment as applying to one’s economic realm, but God’s view is far more expansive and includes “every way”. The Living Bible (TLB) says, “He has enriched your whole life.”
Our riches are outlined clearly in Ephesians 1. In fact, when Paul outlines them, he exuberantly explodes in praise and in the original Greek this is clearly seen, as verses 3-14 are all one long sentence! It has more than two hundred words. He then prays for us in verse 18:
I pray that the eyes of your heart my be enlightened, so that you will know what is the hope of His calling, what are the riches of the glory of His inheritance in the saints, and what is the surpassing greatness of His power toward us who believe. Ephesians 3:18-19 (NASB)
May we be enlightened and freshly appreciate the great riches that Christ brings to the table of our lives.
