For nothing will be impossible with God. Luke 1:37 (NASB)
When the angel Gabriel appeared to Mary and told her that she would give birth to Israel’s promised Messiah, she was stunned. How can this be?
And the angel answered and said to her, “The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Highest will overshadow you; therefore, also, that Holy One who is to be born will be called the Son of God. Now indeed, Elizabeth your relative has also conceived a son in her old age; and this is now the sixth month for her who was called barren. For with God nothing will be impossible.” Luke 1:35-37 (NASB)
The angel told Mary, “For with God nothing will be impossible.” The literal Greek text says, “For no word from God is void of power.” The Amplified Bible translates it:
For with God nothing is ever impossible and no word from God shall be without power or impossible of fulfilment. Luke 1:35-37 (AMP)
In Jeremiah, God asked:
Behold, I am the LORD, the God of all flesh. Is there anything too hard for me? Jeremiah 32:27 (NKJV)
Jeremiah stated in the same chapter:
O Sovereign LORD! You made the heavens and earth by your strong hand and powerful arm. Nothing is too hard for you! Jeremiah 32:27 (NLT)
It’s impossible – but it is Him-possible! God says to us:
When you’re in over your head, I’ll be there with you.
When you’re in rough waters, You will not go down.
When you’re between a rock and a hard place,
it won’t be a dead end –
Because I am GOD, your personal God,
The Holy of Israel, your Savior. Isaiah 43:2-3 (MSG)
In over their head; in rough waters; between a rock and a hard place. Sound familiar? Recall what God said about each of these:
In over your head? I will be there for you.
In rough waters? You will not go down.
Between a rock and a hard place? It won’t be a dead end.
Why? Because I am God, your personal God.
You may be looking at your circumstances and saying to yourself, it’s impossible. If so, remember it is Him-possible! That was Paul’s attitude:
I can do all things through Him who strengths me. Philippians 4:13 (NASB)
Paul did not say “I can’t” – this is the language of pessimism. Paul did not say “I can” – that is the language of presumption. He said “I can… through Christ” – that is the language of power. Remember that with God nothing is ever impossible and no word from God shall be without power or impossible of fulfilment.
