…imitate those who through faith and patience inherit the promises. Hebrews 6:12 (NKJV)
In my brain teaser book I came across this one:
Q: Before Mount Everest was discovered, what was the highest mountain on earth? A: Still Mount Everest; it just hadn’t been discovered yet, but it had always been there.
It reminded me of God’s promises. Thousands of promises of God’s miraculous favour, equipping, help and provision are in the Word of God and are ready to be discovered and released into your life! It’s time for us to tap into God’s limitless supply and live in the reality of all that God desires. The way some people use the term, a promise is nothing more than a good intention easily discarded. Like the proverbial rule, promises are made to be broken. But when God makes a promise, it’s backed with more than just good intentions and wishful thinking. He is giving us His absolutely trustworthy word. None of God’s promises in the Bible ever fail. It’s in the Bible:
…not one word has failed of all the good things that the LORD your God promised concerning you. All have come to pass for you; not one of them has failed. Joshua 23:14 (ESV)
God invites us to…
…imitate those who through faith and patience inherit the promises. Hebrews 6:12 (NK/V)
Notice that faith and patience are necessary to inherit the promises. Hebrews 11 gives us a compilation of characters who stepped out in faith and obtained the promises of God. It says:
…who through faith conquered kingdoms, enforced justice, obtained promises, stopped the mouths of lions. Hebrews 11:33 (ESV)
One such character listed in this chapter is Abraham. In Romans 4:19-21 we learn about Abraham and how he inherited God’s promises.
And being not weak in faith, he considered not his own body now dead, when he was about an hundred years old, neither yet the deadness of Sarah’s womb: he staggered not at the promise of God through unbelief; but was strong in faith, giving glory to God; and being fully persuaded that, what he had promised, he was able also to perform. Romans 4:19-21 (KJV)
God promises us that we will not lack anything that is needed.
Oh, fear the LORD, you His saints!
There is no want to those who fear Him.
The young lions lack and suffer hunger;
But those who seek the LORD shall not lack any good thing. Psalm 34:9-10 (NKJV)
He promises that when we call on Him, He will answer.
He shall call upon Me, and I will answer him,
I will be with him in trouble;
I will deliver him and honor him. Psalm 91:15 (NKJV)
He promises to go with us.
Be strong and of a good courage, fear not nor be afraid of them; for the LORD thy God, He it is that doth go with thee, He will not fail thee nor forsake thee. Deuteronomy 31:6 (KJV)
He promises to help us at every stage of life.
And even to your old age I am He; and even to hoar hairs will I carry you: I have made, and I will bear; even I will carry, and will deliver you. Isaiah 46:4 (KJV)
These are some of the promises of the Scriptures. But the Bible is literally full of them, promise after promise after promise. Generations have proven them true, and so can you. God’s promises are treasures waiting to be discovered.
